NEWS ON NEXT PRIORITY IN GROUND IMPROVEMENTS AS PART OF EXTENSIVE STATEMENT FROM CHAIRMAN ON ALL THINGS CARLTON TOWN!
Carlton Town Chairman Mick Garton told us today that the next area the club would start working on after the new turnstile is finished is on the footpath behind the goal at the dressing room end of the pitch.
“It was a request made by the Supporters Club at the AGM and we are now in the process of pricing up materials and putting together a plan with a view to providing a covered area, with the work being done in the spring or the summer ready for next season” said Garton.
“The club are trying to strike a balance in ensuring the managers have a competitive squad, but that important ground improvements are made as well”
“With this in mind we will be putting on an extra Speakers event during the summer which Tommy Brookbanks is organising and the ticket price is likely to be similar to the Jon Parkin event to try and get more players and supporters involved ”
“We have sold over 65 tickets for the John O Hare night at £40 which includes a 2 course meal and a massive thankyou to Paul White at Hickling and Squires who have taken the top table” said Garton.
A few tickets then remain for this important fund raiser on Friday 11th March from 7pm and can be booked through Boatsy on 07907 064189.
In other news the big winner in the Supporters 150 Club Draw was Nigel Harlow who won the £150 first prize, the full set of results are on the Supporters website.
The Chairman also said he would like to thank everyone who voted for the club in the Buildbase competition.
“Nigel Boyle kindly got our campaign going when we’re 39th out of 60 clubs and to get into the top 10 with 1,648 votes and finishing 8th was a great effort for a small club in comparison with some of the bigger hitters in there, so a massive thankyou to all who voted for us and the celebrities and sporting personalities who retweeted for us and to Arun at Radio Nottingham for the coverage. It helped raise our profile and that in itself in no bad thing”
“Saturdays pitch inspection was held quite early to save Halesowen from traveling down and the two clubs are hoping the fixture can be rescheduled for the blank Saturday 5th March . The final decision however obviously rests with the NPL and the club will announce the new date when it has been confirmed” continued the Chairman.
“The cover picture shows the condition of the pitch at 2.40pm and there was also some storm damage to perimeter fencing which the club will be assessing in the next couple of days, after this awful weather front has moved away”
“Finally I would like to sign off by revealing the giant Tatto belongs to Boatsy, who else! and I would like to warmly welcome back Alex Howes to the club following his release from Basford United and announce that we should have a date for the Merthyr Town pre season trip this week”
