STOKE LANE WATERLOGGED AND CRAIG HIGNETT STEPS UP TO THE PLATE!

Carlton Town have cancelled all five a side bookings tonight as even the 3G pitch is waterlogged after more relentless rain today.

Tomorrows fixture against Dunkirk as also already been called off due to the water level at the ground leaving surface water on large parts of the playing surface. The game is set to be rescheduled for next week, details to follow !

In other news, Friday’s Christmas Luncheon is sold out, but we have to announce a late change in the guest speaker as Mark Crossley is under contract with Sky Sports and as been scheduled to work on Friday.

Mark phoned Millers Chairman Mick Garton and Boatsy to personally apologise and told the club he will appear in 2023 at no cost to the club to make it up to the Millers and also helped sort out an excellent replacement speaker with ex Middlesbrough star Craig Hignett agreeing to step in.      Mark told us ” Your crowd will absolutely love Craig, he has some fantastic stories and those attending will not be disappointed”

Chairman Mick Garton explained ” Mark could not apologise enough, but we obviously don’t want him to lose his sky contract, Mark was booked way before the World Cup fixtures were announced, so there was no way of knowing there would be a clash and as soon as Mark got his work schedule at the end of last week, he contacted us both personally and agreed to come for nothing next year, which is a fantastic gesture and given our current challenges with travel costs will massively help the club”

The Luncheon starts at 1pm and alongside the Firework Extravaganza is Carlton’s biggest event of the year and one which sells out every year, after the event this Friday, Carlton will be showing the England v USA World Cup game in the Howard Mitchell Sportsbar which kick’s off at 7pm and all will be hoping England can build on their brilliant 6-2 win over Iran.

Hignett played over 450 Profesional games including 155 for Middlesbrough scoring 33 goals and 121 for Crewe scoring 42 goals, impressive indeed, he also played with legends of the game Paul Gascoinge and Paul Merson , we await his talk with anticipation !
