STOKE ROCHFORD BOYS WIN THE 15TH ANNUAL CARLTON TOWN GOLF DAY !

There were new winners of the annual Carlton Town Golf Day this year with the Stoke Rochford boys taking the crown for the first time in tricky conditions at Oakmere Park.

It was the 15th consecutive year that Carlton had held their event at Oakmere and the relationship between the two organisations remains ever strong.

Club President Roger Smith who organisers the event each year and is a former Captain at Oakmere, was hit with a few drop outs with monsoon weather conditions forecast, but the prognosis turned out not too badly in the end, with the teams that had earlier tee off times avoiding the worst of the rain.

The boys at the back end were not so lucky and Carlton’s Joint manager Tommy Brookbanks and Player Coach Martin Ball were two of the final players coming in drenched.

The banter was plentiful however and the day was particularly fruitful for Liam Gales, who not only was among the winning four,  but also won the main raffle prize.

For the record, massive respect goes to Roger Smith for organising the event and a big thankyou to Headline sponsors Marstons, who were ably assisted by Msr Newsgroup and Jmd online, who both contributed brilliantly to support this fantastic annual event!

Murray Debank, Mick Bankroft, Malcolm Clark and Gareth Jones were the nearest the pin heroes and this year for the first time, thanks to the sponsors, there were prizes for the top four on the day.

In 4th place were Times Furnishing, professionally led by the popular Dave Perrin, they managed a score of 80.

3rd place went to Mick Greenwood’s team who came in with 81 and in second place Steve v will  be delighted with his teams 84.

With a cracking score of 87 however, Liam and his team mates delivered on the big stage, all be it a very wet big stage.

Carlton Chairman Mick Garton and Player Coach Martin Ball presented the raffle, before President Roger Smith stepped up to make the big awards and delivered an excellent speech into the bargain.

Despite the tricky weather conditions, it had been another extremely successful day for Carlton Town Fc with Stoke Rochford and in particular that man Liam having a day to remember!
