THE PERFECT AFTERNOON AT STOKE LANE WAS LONG OVERDUE!

Carlton Town fans were ecstatic when they heard they could finally gather again for a home fixture after all the recent away fixtures in both the cups and League and the knack of getting torrential rain just before a home fixture. The heavy rain came again , but this time the pitch was playable and what an afternoon for the Millers.

Pre match guest speaker, top and current international Cricket umpire David Millns was certainly up there among the best pre match speakers we have ever had and gave the packed Howard Mitchell Sportsbar a full 30 minutes of brilliant entertainment and stories alongside interviewer,  Carlton Town Chairman Mick Garton.

His nephew Matt Millns, one of the finest centre half’s to ware the Carlton Town shirt during Garton’s tenure, mixed with the Millers fans, got a round in after winning the football card and presented the Sponsors Man of the match award to Niall Davie (pictured). Millns had been part of a brilliant side put together under Les Mcjannet in 2011-2012 and starred in some great wins for the Millers at that time and scored a few goals with usually headers from corners his stock in trade. Matt partnered Rob Darkin at the back in a team that had strikers Ruben Wiggins-Thomas and Ian Brown banging the goals in at the other end and had happy memories indeed from playing in that cracking side, that lost in the Playoffs on penalties to Leek Town.

After the deserved fuss given to two brilliant guests, it’s perhaps time to mention the main event and that man Niall Davie who scored a brilliant second half hatrick to lead the Millers to a fantastic 3-0 win.

On any other day Niall Hylton would have won the man of the match award after a great performance himself, but it was his namesake Niall Davie who picked up a cracking bottle of red wine from Matt Millns and then spoke to Carlton Town Tv and our reporter with a pint in hand , guess who that was ?

That interview and a chat with that man Clerky are part of the after match package which includes questions and reactions about the Notts Senior Cup Quarter Final breaking news from yesterday.

Carlton are back in action on Tuesday at home when the outstanding Stockton team are the visitors to Stoke lane and after their 7-1 win over Belper Town today, Carlton will know this will be one of their biggest tests of the season so far.

Those two interviews with our man with the pint are below, enjoy !
