THREE COME FORWARD TO SPONSOR RACE EVENT AND RIECE HAS TOLD ME HE’S STAYING, BROOKBANKS!
In another busy day at Stoke Lane, Tommy Brookbanks spoke to us and told us there was still much work going on behind the scenes, but that he had received a phone call from Supporters Player of the year Riece Bertram stating he was staying with the club.
It was no secret that Riece like Jack Steggles was intending to move on at the end of last season and this website understands, he has received at least two excellent offers from others clubs, but told Tommy, he wants to be part of things going forward at Stoke Lane following the appointments of the new joint managers.
Riece has been a favourite of supporters and is seen generally as a positive and popular influence at Stoke Lane, with his whole hearted performances both in midfield and at Centre half and was particularly impressive in the Senior Cup Final despite Carlton’s defeat to Basford United.
One thing the new managers may have to work on with the combative Bertram is keeping him on the pitch, his passion has proved his downfall on more than one occasion since joining Carlton Town with some Red Cards in the mix.
The new management team however feel he has more good points than bad and are looking forward to seeing what he can bring to the new look set up which aims to lift Carlton Town well and truly up the table.
On a separate note, two Carlton Town Commitee members have come forward and a supporter in the last 48 hours following the announcement of the in house race event after the Hucknall friendly on Saturday 13th July.
All 3 of them have agreed to put £25 in to sponsor one of the 10 races, so a big thankyou to Dave Hodgson, Mark Steggles and Dave Perrin, 3 down, 7 to go!
