TOMMY TO STEP DOWN AS JOINT MANAGER OF THE MILLERS

Tommy Brookbanks has announced he is to step down as joint Manager at the end of the season.

Tommy’s announcement comes 24 hours before Carlton’s final home league game of the season and 24 hours after Carlton’s slim promotion hopes were extinguished by Dunston in the North East as the Millers went down 2-1 on Saturday.

Tommy has had two spells at the club, the first covering 14 years in the ninety’s and in the early part of this decade.
He achieved 5 promotions and a it would have been 6, but the club failed ground grading in the late 90s, he eventually landed the club in the Northern Premier League at step 4 in 2006-2007 after an outstanding campaign which finished with a breathtaking final day away win at Garforth Town.
He then led the club into the playoffs in 2008-2009 before a Jamie Vardy inspired Stockbridge knocked them out in the Semi Final.

Tommy left the club at the end of the 2009-2010 season to try his luck elsewhere and has since managed some of the East Midlands finest Non League clubs, his highlight achieving promotion alongside Mark Harvey at Coalville whom they brilliantly took to step three.

He returned to the club as joint Manager alongside Mark six years ago and along with Mark led the club to two County Cup Finals in 2021-2022 and 2022-2023, winning the first one by beating Mansfield Town under 21s at Basford United, but losing the second one to Newark and Sherwood Fc.

The Millers completed the great escape in 2022-2023, looking certain at one point to go down before going on an amazing run right at the end of season to dramatically stay up and in 2023-2024 season, Tommy and Mark again led the team to the playoffs, before Stockton Town beat the Millers in the Semi Final last April.

This season has again seen the Millers compete for the playoffs, going on an amazing 15 match unbeaten run and but for a bad November, which was a month when everything that could go wrong did go wrong, Carlton could well have been back in the mix and who could forget the Covid year when Carlton were flying and looking nailed on for the playoffs, the rest is history and that season was never completed.

The good news for Millers fans is that Tommy is to stay on at the club in another capacity and that will be revealed in due course, along with the plans going forward.

For now, Tommy has told the players and wanted the supporters to know of his decision to and looks forward to seeing the Carlton faithful on Monday afternoon, when we are sure there will be many kind words for a colourful and talented manager who has been in the dugout for 30 years and how !
