TOP EIGHT TAKING SHAPE AS MILLERS MAINTAIN UNBEATEN AWAY RECORD!

Carlton Towns form on the road this season as been nothing short of sensational with 5 wins and a draw prior to today’s visit to high flying Cleethorpes who were unbeaten at home.

Well both teams records remain intact, after the Millers came back to draw 1-1 after going a goal behind in the first half.

Niall Davey (pictured) was the hero for Carlton with the equaliser and Carlton will enjoy their journey back to Nottingham after securing another fine point on the road against excellent opposition.

The top of the table makes for facinating reading with Carlton still top and Cleethorpes second but that does not tell the full story.

Stamford whom the Millers recently beat 3-0 are third with 26 points from 12 games, 2 points behind the Millers with a game in hand. Leek Town are third , also with 26 points but they have 2 games in hand.

Ilkeston meanwhile have also got 26 points but have played 16 games, going down to Stocksbridge 5-2 at home today, who move up to 6th in the table with 25 points from 14 games and Carlton will be well aware , they have another very difficult away game when they visit Stocksbridge next Saturday.

Perhaps the dark horses in all this are the team that sit 7th, Belper Town with 23 points from 9 games, meaning if they win their 4 games in hand on Carlton, they would establish a dominant lead at the top with 35 points leaving everyone else in their wake.

Sheffield Fc sit 8th with 23 points from 14 games and early season form indicates these are the 8 teams who will be battling to finish in the top 5.

This can change of course and probably will, but in taking stock as we close in on December, Carlton  can be well pleased with their progress under Tommy Brookbanks and Mark Harvey, a club definitely punching above it’s weight!
