TRIBUTES ARE MANY AS BALLY CALLS IT A DAY !

Carlton Town Captain Martin Ball has today called time on his playing career and the tributes have come thick and fast on his Twitter feed .

Bally has had an outstanding career, spending a large part of it at Carlton Town after first playing for the clubs Academy team some 18 years ago when just 17 years old.

If you include the Covid years, then 12 out of those 18 years were spent on the books of the Millers.

Joint Manager Tommy Brookbanks said “Just want to thank Martin for the service he’s given Carlton town. In his first stint he helped us achieve promotions and playoffs having come through our academy system and going into the first team at 17. Then in this latest stint he proved everyone wrong at 32 and has given us almost 4 years of superb performances and service as well as being our skipper. Well done Martin on a fabulous career. You should be very proud”

Bally himself told us

I’d like to thank everyone associated with Carlton Town over the last 18 years that I’ve been at the club on and off. From playing in the academy at 17, to captaining the club this year I’ve enjoyed every minute and can honestly say I’ve given everything every time I’ve pulled on the shirt.

I have met some of my best mates through the club, both players and people behind the scenes, and people I know will continue to be life long friends.

Thank you for your continued support, and I’ll be down to games in the future…Up The Millers!

There will be further response to this dramatic news in the coming days with many others wanting to pen tributes and memories !
