UNDER 17 LIONS THROUGH TO THE LAST 16 OF THE SUNDAY CUP AFTER 5 WEEK WEATHER BREAK !

Massive congratulations to our under 17 Lions who cruised through to the last 16 of the under 18 Sunday Cup with an emphatic 14-1 win over Netherfield.

Four goals for the impressive  Jack Cockram (pictured) and hatricks for Ellis Tongue and Dan Flint and braces for Zinfandel Salish and Jake Putnar who completed the scoring for Carlton Town saw the Young Lions home.

Carlton have been drawn at home to Sherwood Colliery in the next round.

It was Carlton under 17s first game in 5 weeks and the Academy team have also suffered with postponements with the ongoing down pours soaking the Stoke Lane pitch and the home fixture v Radcliffe was the latest fixture to fall by the wayside this week, following Tuesday’s pretty much full day of rain.

Carlton’s first team have also lost 3 fixtures already this season and many believed, last Saturday’s defeat to Leek was at part due to their three week lay off.

Hopefully , the next stage of winter will be kinder to the Carlton sides and we see plenty of football over Christmas and the New Year and see the under 17s progress further in the Sunday Cup.
