WET NIGHT AT STOKE LANE

WET NIGHT AT STOKE LANE

A hard-earned win for the reserves last night against an experienced woodhouse team.

Paul was looking for a reaction after the disappointing result at the weekend. With Ethan making his home debut in goal, new signing Henry making his debut and the return from injury for 2 of the senior players Martin Ball & Dan Fletcher.

The game started well for Carlton the experience of bally and Dan fletcher at the back gave the young team the composures and experience they lack at times As Well as giving them valuable minutes on their bid for Match fitness.

Whilst the first half was entertaining not really any clear chances created from open play from either team. Sonny & Flinty worked hard in the middle of the park covering lots of ground and linking well with Kai and Harrison. Carlton looked dangerous from the corners with the presence of Bally, so was only matter of time before they converted one. The first goal came for Carlton on 20th minute when Ellis’s corner was converted by Bally 1-0 half time

The 2nd half was very scrappy with not really much quality. The best chances fell to Woodhouse where fortunately for Carlton they were unable to convert and could have easily been 2/3 – 1 up.

Carlton Took their chance on the 70th minute again coming from a corner from Ellis, a scramble in the Woodhouse box and the ball fell to an unmarked Isaac who managed to slot home from 10yds 2-0 Carlton.

Woodhouse continued to search for goals and again unable to convert from close range. Wasn’t until 85th minute when they got their goal from the penalty spot to make it 2-1.

Woodhouse has every right probably feel aggrieved not to take anything away from the game, but credit to the Carlton boys who competed all over the park and took their chances.

Tough call for MOM and difficult to choose, Both Dan Flint & Sonny (Pictured) gave a disciplined performance and shown maturity in the middle of the park.
