Young Millers continue their unbeaten league start

The reserves travelled to Heanor on saturday, Team Captain Jack was unavailable &  due to illness paul was absent from the sidelines, so James took to the team.

It was a good start from both teams, both started well and looking to play football. The first chance fell to Carlton when Heanor gave away possession  on the half way line, 17 year old Kai received the ball looked up and Beckham Style shot from halfway gave the keeper no chance, to give carlton the lead 1-0.

15 minutes into the game a good break down the left from Ellis links well with  Kai, who could only find the side netting.

Heanor had a good chance midway through the half, when they caught carlton out on the break,  their forward beat Steggles to the ball, and shot wide, a few minutes later, another counter attack from heanor saw their forward try and chip Steggles,  but the out outstretched  carlton keeper  tipped it over the bar with a good  save ! Unfortunately for Carlton heanor converted the corner 1-1 .

30 minutes in a long clearance from Steggles with a  ball over the top,  Ellis gambled beat the defender and keeper to the ball, scuffed his shot, but  fortunately for carlton the ball fell into the path of Nicolas who side footed into the goal from 6 yds out 2-1 carlton

Heanor went on to have some half chances but with the presence of steggles in the goal, his positioning & handling  they didn’t  really causing him  any great problems, however on reflection  Heanor  unlucky not to go into half time at least on equal terms.

2nd half carlton forced in to a defensive  reshuffle with Jacko going off , JC moved  into centre half and Flinty into right back.

For the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half it was  frantic from both teams. Heanors mixture of youth and experience seemed to help them settle down quicker than carlton, as they played some good football and had some  good passages of play of which they  created some half chances.

Once carlton settled down they started create their own chances and had a couple of penalty shouts, as well as couple of shots from Aaron and Kai that bought some good saves from the Heanor keeper.

Heanor probably feel aggrieved not to take anything away from the game, but credit to the carlton boys who competed all over the park.

A good 3 points for the  young Carlton Team As they  continue their development and the transition from youth football.
