MILLERS FALL FURTHER INTO TROUBLE WITH ANOTHER HOME DEFEAT!

Hebburn showed why they are promotion candidates and Carlton showed why they are relegation candidates in Carlton’s latest defeat at Stoke Lane.

Hebburn had only probably 3 credible efforts on goal, but scored 2 of them while Carlton huffed and puffed but didn’t really trouble the Hebburn keeper and the stark reality is that Carlton are now in serious trouble with only 11 games to go as March approaches.

The afternoon started brightly with VIP Guest Ekow Eussman proving to be an outstanding guest who interviewed brilliantly in the Howard Mitchell Sportsbar prior to kick off.

OTTR sponsored the game which started 15 minutes late due to Hebburn running into traffic problems during their long journey from the North East, Carlton will be hoping for better luck when they make the return trip on a Tuesday night in March, both in terms of the result and getting there on time.

The game pretty much summed up Carlton’s season, it was in effect more of the same and it is clear there is massive loss of confidence in the Millers squad with talented players just not performing up to what they are capable of on a week to week basis and the team are now frankly running out of games.

Mark Harvey admitted to the Gedling Eye after the game that it was not a position he had previously found himself in and Chairman Mick Garton also spoke to them and admitted it was not looking good for the team, but rebuffed suggestions relegation would be a good thing due to the travelling.

“The traveling this season has been a negative factor, make no mistake about that” said the Chairman, “but we are not going to blame solely that on our postion, particularly when our home form has been a major factor, there are a number of reasons and it does appear we have forgotten how to win, certainly at home”

“Our Managers have credit in the bank through their excellent record at the club, but neither they or myself want a relegation on our cv , the best option would be for us to stay up, even via the playoffs if need be and go back into the Midlands league, but each week that passes and we don’t win football matches makes it tougher, somebody now has to really step up to the plate , hopefully a couple of players can do that and lead the way, but that time really is now” Garton told the Gedling Eye.

The Chairman may have been stating the obvious, but in fairness it’s difficult to know what to say when results are the way they are at the moment and the managers are fronting up and giving atfter match interviews, but everyone is under no illusions that despite their success in the Nottinghamshire Senior Cup, their league form is as poor as it has been for a long time and a gear shift is needed immediately.

Mark Harvey also spoke to Carlton Town Tv in the after match press session in the Millers boardroom and his interview can be seen below.
